1. A camping trip turned deadly after our high winds on Tuesday evening. Staff at KTVB report one woman has died and another is injured after a tree fell on a vehicle while the duo were camping near Sage Hen Reservoir. (KTVB)
2. Idaho is officially half way vaccinated in the battle against COVID-19, as reported by James Dawson of boisestatepublicradio. More than half of adults in the U.S. had at least one shot by April. (boisestatepublicradio)
3. Merging into traffic in Boise can turn into the low point of the day. Mateo, reporting for liteonline, provides the legal perspective on who yields to who when merging along, with the penalties for not following the law. (liteonline)
4. Idaho Lieutenant Governor and current candidate for governor Janice McGeachin has met with former President Donald Trump, as reported by KIDO's Kevin Miller. Unknown at this time is if the former president has endorsed McGeachin in her run against current Governor Brad Little and others in the Republican primary. (KIDO)
5. Traveling on a Shoestring has posted a video on YouTube showing the fun free things to do in Boise. Check out some of the great things to do in our own city without pulling out the debit card. (YouTube)
Boise Fact of the Day: Idaho's first governor, George L. Shoup, had the shortest term of three months; Cecil Andrus served as governor the longest at 14 years. Four governors resigned, but none have died while in office. Twenty governors have been Republicans while 11 were Democrats.
Boise Community Calendar:
- The Household Hazardous Waste Collection will take place Thursday at Republic Services located at 11101 Executive Drive. Times are noon - 7 p.m.
- The Warm Springs Park Pollinator Garden Tour starts at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the park Thursday. Meet the native plants and pollinators found throughout Warm Springs Park and its expansive pollinator garden. A park plant list will be provided. Meet in the garden at 6 pm. Parking is available on Marden Street and the garden is a short walk down the greenbelt.
- The Garden City Library sponsors Toddler Tales on Thursday starting at 10 a.m. The program is designed for children ages 18 months to 3 years and is free.
- LEARN Idaho is holding Tools and Technology for Better Living on Thursday. Technology options for improving our quality of living are abundant. However, if this is not part of our normal comfort zone, we probably don't know all that is available and how it can help us live safely and happily, as well as options for how we can have connections to those we love. We will explore tools and processes that organize our key documents and information, for us, and those that care for us. To register for this event, go to here.
