Garden City Man Guilty In Stabbing Death Of Uncle

BOISE, ID — A Boise man is facing life in prison after a jury found him guilty of stabbing his uncle to death in a Garden City home.

Emerson Buck IV, 31, was found guilty by a jury May 20 for the first-degree murder of his uncle.

According to evidence presented at trial, in January 2020 Mr. Buck slashed and stabbed his relative in their Garden City residence. The defendant then fled the scene and eluded police on foot before being apprehended by law enforcement shortly after the crime he committed. Mr. Buck was arrested and initially charged with second-degree murder. The state later amended that charge in June 2020 to first-degree murder, and resisting and obstructing an officer.

Following the trial that began May 11, the jury found Mr. Buck guilty of first-degree murder with an enhancement for using a deadly weapon in the commission of a crime, and resisting and obstructing an officer.

“I want to say thank you to the jurors for their time and attention in this case,” said Jan Bennetts, Ada County Prosecutor. “Thank you also to the Garden City Police Department for their hard work and thorough investigation, and the Boise Police Department for their aid in the defendant’s apprehension.”

Mr. Buck’s sentencing is set for July 23, 2021 before the Honorable Ada County District Judge Jason Scott. The defendant faces life imprisonment for first-degree murder.
