Stories over the next few days in the Boise Daily will continue to repeat the same thing — it is hot! Record breaking heat is upon us and will only become hotter as 110 degrees is forecast. We also look at a home that could well be Graceland west. A candidate for sheriff has some interesting views, and a championship football game is questioned.

3. One of the candidates vying for the Ada County Sheriff's position has some background showing support for the constitutional sheriffs association movement. Carolyn Komatsoulis of idahopress has the story of some old videos catching up with the nominee. (idahopress)
4. It appears Ada County may be changing the method of dealing with homelessness and substance abuse counseling. Boisedev's Margaret Carmel reports on slashed funding for New Path Community Housing and calls for a new program to deal with mental health and substance abuse help. (Boisedev)

Boise Fact of the Day: The hottest day on record in Boise was July 28, 1934 when the temperature hit 111.2°F. During January, the overnight temperature drops to an average of 22.7°F with the lowest temperature of -25.1°F being recorded on December 23, 1990.
Boise Community Calendar:
- A Pollinator Preschool happens Wednesday at Julia Davis Park starting at 9:30 a.m. Meet the fuzzy, buzzing, busy creatures that help plants grow in this one-hour interactive program. We will read a story, make a butterfly, and look for pollinator friends in action. Program designed for children ages 3 to 6. All children must be accompanied and assisted by an adult. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Drop ins will not be admitted.
- Continuing with insects, starting at noon, learn about Monarchs with a virtual event. Learn about the monarch butterfly life cycle, issues the Western monarch population is facing, and what we can do to help. Join us in helping to protect this incredible butterfly. Presented by Kristin Gnojewski, Boise Parks and Recreation Community Volunteer Specialist. Register here.
- The Household Hazardous Waste collection will start at noon and continue until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Fire Station 12. The program does not accept explosives, radioactive materials, biomedical waste or tires.
- Mayor McLean will be listening and talking with residents on Wednesday at Manitou Park starting at 6 p.m. Once you register, you will receive an email with information needed to attend.
