“March Out Hunger” Food and Fund Drive To Benefit Veterans
Humana and The Idaho Foodbank are hosting the drive through Aug. 16, 2019

Humana, a leading health and well-being company, and The Idaho Foodbank have partnered on a food and fund drive through Aug. 16, 2019.
As part of the “March Out Hunger” campaign, non-perishable food will be collected at five locations in the Boise community:
- Dick Eardley Senior Center, 690 N. Robbins Road, Boise, ID 83702
- Home Helpers, 5537 N. Glenwood Street, Ste. B, Garden City, ID 83714
- Humana, 1505 S. Eagle Road, Ste. 120, Meridian, ID 83642
- Les Schwab Tire Center, 2901 12th Ave Road, Nampa, ID 83686
- Warhawk Air Museum, 201 Municipal Way, Nampa, ID 83687
In addition to food donations, members of the community can provide monetary donations to this food drive. For every $10 donation, The Idaho Foodbank is able to purchase 50 meals. Donations can be made at: https://idahofoodbank.org/humana-food-and-fund-drive/

One in five households served by a local food bank has at least one member who has served in the U.S. military. This is according to Feeding America, the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States. The Idaho Foodbank is part of Feeding America’s network of food banks.

Last year, Humana partnered with Feeding America to stage a series of events that drove food donations and raised awareness of food insecurity with a focus on helping veterans.
Food insecurity is defined as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. In the United States, food insecurity affects 1 in 8 people. Food insecurity is a social determinant of health, which are conditions in people’s environment that can affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.
In Idaho, more than 210,000 men, women and children struggle with food insecurity. Every month, The Idaho Foodbank provides food for more than one million meals. These meals feed 179,000 Idahoans monthly. The food is distributed across the state through over 400 community partners. The food is free to anyone seeking assistance regardless of financial status.
