McCall Woman Dies In Single Car Crash

The incident took place just north of Smiths Ferry on Tuesday, June 29.

SMITHS FERRY — On 6/29/2021, at approximately 10:42 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle fatality crash on SH55, at milepost 99.5, north of Smiths Ferry in Valley County.

Janet Rockwell, 73, of McCall, was driving north on SH55, in a 2009 BMW car when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The BMW left the road onto the right shoulder and went down the embankment before coming to rest. Rockwell was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

The northbound lane was closed for approximately three hours. Idaho State Police was assisted by the Valley County Sheriff's Office.
