Montessori Academy in Eagle Students Revamp School Garden
Students began preparing gardens around the schoolyard in an effort to create an outdoor space certified by the National Wildlife Federation
In celebration of Earth Day, students at Montessori Academy in Eagle recently began revamping the gardens throughout their schoolyard in an effort to create a Certified Wildlifeβ’ Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. The students began preparing soil, planting flowers and watering plants to kickstart the development of the garden. Throughout the spring, students will build bird feeders, bee houses and a bird bath, as well as incorporate native plants, a rock garden and nature walk areas. Once completed, the students will apply for their garden to be certified by the National Wildlife Federation through its Garden for Wildlife programs. Montessori Academy teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
Founded on the belief that everyone can enjoy and protect wildlife where they live, work, learn, play and worship, the National Wildlife Federationβs Garden for Wildlife programs provide simple steps and resources to create beautiful spaces that make a big impact for local and migratory species, from small window boxes to vast habitat corridors.
