Montessori Academy Parkcenter Students Donate Food & Winter Gear

Students hosted a food drive for The Idaho Foodbank and collected coats, hats, toys and more for refugee children in need

Students at Montessori Academy Parkcenter in Boise recently collected nearly 300 pounds of food for The Idaho Foodbank, and also donated 100 gift bags filled with winter gear to local refugee children in need. For a month, students held a school-wide drive and collected nonperishable food items to help stock the food pantry’s shelves. Following the food drive, students hosted a giving tree to collect coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sleds, footballs and more to help refugee children stay warm this winter and enjoy outdoor activities. The winter items were donated to nonprofit Jannus Economic Opportunity in support of the organization’s Refugee Childcare Business Development project. Students also created handmade cards with cheerful messages to accompany the donations. Through their efforts, students learned the importance of giving back to the community.
