Biden Cancels Illinois Event Over Coronavirus

The former vice president and presidential candidate was scheduled to be in Illinois on Friday.

ILLINOIS — Former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign announced Wednesday it is canceling events in Illinois and Florida amid the spread of coronavirus.

Details for the Illinois event had not yet been released, but the candidate was expected to make an Illinois campaign stop on Friday, WGN reported.

"As a result of those conversations and at the request of elected officials in Illinois and Florida, we will no longer hold large crowd events on Friday and Monday in those states," Biden's campaign said in a statement.

Instead, the events will become "virtual events." More details on the virtual events are expected to be released later.
