Fortune 500: These Illinois Companies Made The 2020 List

ILLINOIS — Fortune Magazine has released its annual list of the 500 top companies in America, and 10 of those companies are based in Illinois.

Fortune ranks companies by total annual revenue, and for the eighth consecutive year, Walmart topped the 2020 list, followed by Amazon and Exxon Mobil. Apple and CVS Health ranked No. 4 and No. 5, rounding out the top five spots on the list.

To put the rankings in context, the 500 companies on the 2020 list make up two-thirds of the total U.S. gross domestic product and employ 29.2 million people worldwide.

Here are the Illinois companies that made the Fortune 500 list:

• Rank 19: Walgreens Boots Alliance, $13.7 billion in revenue, 287,000 employees
• Rank 36: State Farm Insurance, $7.9 billion in revenue, 57,672 employees
• Rank 40: Boeing, $7.7 billion in revenue, 161,100 employees
• Rank 54: Archer Daniels Midland, $6.5 billion in revenue, 38,100 employees
• Rank 62: Caterpillar, $5.4 billion in revenue, 102,300 employees
• Rank 72: Allstate, $4.5 billion in revenue, 46,035 employees
• Rank 76: United Airlines Holdings, $4.3 billion in revenue, 96,000 employees
• Rank 84: Deere, $3.9 billion in revenue, 73,489 employees
• Rank 95: Exelon, $3.4 billion in revenue, 32,713 employees
• Rank 99: AbbVie, $3.3 billion in revenue, 30,000 employees
