ILLINOIS — We could be in for a snowy weekend in the Chicago area, with a chance of snow in the forecast through Sunday night. On Friday, snow could become heavy at times, reducing visibility, according to the National Weather Service.
The heaviest snow is likely to come around noon on Friday, with periods of sharply reduced visibility.
With a high of 37 on Friday, some areas could see some snow accumulation, and several inches of snow accumulation is possible by Sunday night.

Scattered snow showers are expected through the day Friday, with more light snow moving into the area during the pre-dawn hours Saturday and lingering through the morning. The National Weather Service anticipates about an inch of snow on Saturday.
More snow on Sunday could bring another inch or so, according to the National Weather Service. WGN's Tom Skilling said the Chicago area could get a half-inch to 2.5 inches of snow by the time the weekend is over.

Friday night: Scattered snow showers before 10pm, then snow likely, mainly after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday: Snow likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 37. West wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northwest in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday night: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly before 7pm. Cloudy, with a low around 29. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Sunday: A 40 percent chance of snow after 7am. Cloudy, with a high near 34. West wind around 5 mph.
Sunday night: A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.
