Illinois' Best Pizza Slice May Surprise You
Chicago pizza is the stuff of legend and lore. But it didn't make the top of the list.

ILLINOIS — The Chicago vs. New York pizza war was pretty definitively settled back in 2017 when the mayor of New York's right-hand man even admitted the truth (spoiler alert: Chicago's is better). Even Jon Stewart conceded he'd been wrong when he dissed deep dish. And over the years, lists of the best pizza joints in the nation have routinely included Chicago pizza mainstays, from Pequod's to Piece to Lou Malnati's.
But where can you get the best slice? According to MSN, they've compiled a list of the best slice of pizza in each state, and it wasn't a Chicago joint that took the top spot in Illinois.
The big winner was the margherita pizza with spicy soppressata at Freddy's Pizza in Cicero. Freddy's Facebook page is crowded with fans drooling over the eatery's slices.

"Just love this place....everything they have is awesome," one diner wrote. "Miss that place BAD," said another who has apparently moved away from the Cicero area. "God I wish I had a slice (of pizza) from there," wrote another. Another fan was willing to travel: "I come from Crown Point Indiana just for the fresh homemade food."
