Latest Timeline For Snow As Winter Weather Advisory Issued In IL

Snow is expected to start between 7 and 9 a.m. on Wednesday, and end as late as midnight.

ILLINOIS ? Winter weather advisories go into effect at 9 a.m. Wednesday, as snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches are expected across the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the heaviest snow is expected, with up to an inch of snow per hour. The weather service said snow will first start near and west of Interstate 39.

Then, from 6 p.m. to midnight, there will be diminishing snow rates, which could mix with freezing drizzle in areas south and east of Interstate 55, the weather service said.

Snow will be "average to fluffy," with wetter snow possible near and south of US Highway 24. Temps will be between 20 and 30 degrees during the heaviest snow, and wind gusts up to 25 mph are possible, according to the weather service.

After wintry weather on Wednesday, temperatures will be colder on Thursday with a high of 23 degrees.

"In the wake of today's winter storm, another round of accumulating snow is expected heading into the weekend, followed by bitterly cold temperatures," the weather service said on its Facebook.

Snow will start to develop Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday. Wind chills on Saturday night could be as low as 10 below zero, and 20 below zero on Sunday night, according to the current forecast.
