Drive-Up Coronavirus Testing Sites Added As IL Nears 10K Daily
Anyone with coronavirus symptoms can get a test even without a doctor's order, the governor says.
ILLINOIS — As Illinois nears Gov. J.B. Pritzker's often-repeated milestone of 10,000 coronavirus tests administered per day, the state has opened up two new drive-thru testing sites: one in Rockford and one in Aurora.
The Aurora site, located at Chicago Premium Outlets, 400 N. Highland Ave., can take up to 600 specimens per day, Pritzker said. The other new site is at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford, 1601 Parkview Ave.

"This is the criteria that we are advising testing providers across the state," he said.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health 9,349‬ coronavirus tests were administered Tuesday, up from 6,639 day earlier.
While most officials agree the state's stay-at-home order, which is set to expire April 30, will be extended, Pritzker would not offer specifics on when that could happen, or how long it could last.
"We are still adding more people to our hospital beds, even now," he said. "We are adding people to ICU beds. You don’t want to be on this side of the curve. We have to get past that. I want, very much, to find the right balance."
Meanwhile, Illinois added another 2,049 positive coronavirus cases, for a statewide total of 35,108 cases. Another 98 Illinois residents have died, bringing the death toll to 1,565 since March.
