New Year's Eve Events Around Chicago, Suburbs: 2019 Guide

Ring in 2020 at one of these events, whether you're looking for a swanky party, a romantic evening or something for the whole family.

ILLINOIS — The holidays are nearly over, and it's almost time to ring in the new year. New Year's Eve is Tuesday, Dec. 31, and if you don't have plans, there's still plenty of time to find a place to celebrate the end of the decade.

Say goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020 at these events in Chicago and the suburbs. There's a little something for everyone, from family friendly events to posh parties to fireworks, comedy and more.

City of Chicago

8th Annual Resolution Gala At Aon Grand Ballroom: 8:15 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier. Tickets start at $99 for a bountiful buffet, 30 bars and bartenders, DJs, a New Year's Eve countdown and the annual Navy Pier NYE fireworks show.

W-NYE New Year's Eve Party 2020: 8 p.m. at the W Chicago City Center. Tickets start at $155 per person plus discounted $159/night room fee.

Chicago New Year’s Eve Ball 2020: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Congress Plaza Hotel.$109 per person general admission, $159 per person VIP. All-inclusive event with multiple bars, buffet and appetizers, DJs, discounted hotel rooms and massive midnight celebration.

Zoo Year's Eve: 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Lincoln Park Zoo. $25 to $40 per person includes millions of dazzling lights, cash bars (beer, wine, champagne and spirits), a DJ, games, giveaways, special animal enrichment and more. Animal buildings will be open to give you a place to warm up.

New Year's Eve With Pat Tomasulo & Friends: Shows at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the Beverly Arts Center. Featuring stand-up comedy from WGN Morning News personality Pat Tomasulo.

The Second City Presents The Good, The Bad and the Ugly Sweater: Various showtimes, Metropolis Performing Arts Center, Arlington Heights. $50 NYE tickets, $60 stage tables.

New Year's Eve Music and Comedy: 6 p.m. at Gelsomino's. $100 per person includes four-course meal, house wine, domestic beer and well drinks, live entertainment. Music by Grace and John; comedy from Chris Trani, Tim Smith, Joe Kilgallon.

Hilton Chicago Northbrook New Year's Eve Gala: Packages start at $317 per couple, including dinner packages and overnight packages featuring open bar, dinner, hors d'oeuvres, dancing, party hats, favors and more.

New Year's Eve Celebration With Boy Band Night: 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at The Odyssey. $95 per person includes open bar, chef stations, late-night snack.

Bubble Bash: A Kid-Friendly New Year's Eve: 9 a.m. to noon at DuPage Children's Museum. $20 per person for members, $25 for non-members includes live music, confetti pop making, "glow your mind," decorate your own tasty treat, sensory experiences, "baby, paint your firework," face painting, fun photo ops and more.

New Year's Eve at the Millennium Carillon: Early family celebration at 5:30 p.m.; traditional celebration at 11:30 p.m. At the 5:30 p.m. event, the Park District will hand out bells, glow sticks and hot chocolate while supplies last. City Carillonneur Tim Sleep will play festive music of the season, including selections from the movies, “Frozen” and "Frozen 2," followed by a countdown at 6 p.m. At the midnight celebration, Carillonneurs Tim Sleep and Sue Bergren will play duets beginning at 11:30 p.m. At 11:55 p.m. they will play, "Try To Remember" and at midnight the six ton bell, “Big Joe,” will strike 12 times followed by a Royal Peal to welcome the New Year. The program will finish with "Auld Lang Syne" and "The Rejoicing" from “Music for the Royal Fireworks” by G.F.Handel. There will be not be a countdown announced at the midnight celebration.

NYE Prince Party with The Bronx Wanderers & The Purple Experience: "bringing the greatest and most authentic production of Prince and The Revolution in the world to audiences of all generations," 8 p.m. at the Arcada Theatre, St. Charles. Packages range from $35 to $95, featuring access to slider/mini-sandwich bar, dessert bar, dance floor and more.

McHenry County

Crystal Lake

Steve Cochran’s New Year’s Eve Comedy Show: 1 p.m. at the Raue Center for the Performing Arts, Crystal Lake. Tickets start at $52. A radio personality for over 30 years, Steve Cochran has hosted his own show from coast to coast, settling in Chicago in the late ‘90s. Steve has also been an actor in several films, like “Grumpy Old Men” as well as a writer for “Saturday Night Live.”

New Year's Eve Family Party at Haunted Trails: 8 p.m. to midnight at Haunted Trails Joliet. $29.95 per person (free under age 3) includes buffet including soft drinks and dessert, $10 in game play, unlimited indoor rides and laser tag, hats and noisemakers.

2020 Countdown Party: 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at The Forge. $5 general admission, $50 open bar.

Bolingbrook

Roaring '20s "A Great Gatsby Affair" NYE party: 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. at MORA Asian Kitchen. $50 per person includes drinks, photo booth with props, five-course hors d'oeuvres, balloon drop, giveaways, $10 beverage specials, midnight champagne toast, live DJ.

Noon Year's Eve Party: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Promenade Bolingbrook. $15 per child (no ticket needed for adults) includes a pancake breakfast for kids only, magic show, mocktail toast at noon.

Romeoville

New Year's Eve SCS: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Stone City Saloon. $60 per person.
