Petition Filing Dates for the November 6, 2018 General Election

Starting June 18 at 8:30 am, candidates running for new party and independent Countywide offices and County Board districts as well as Sanitary District trustees can file their petitions. The last day to file petitions is June 25 at 5:00 pm.

The County Clerk’s Office will have notaries available at 8:30 am in the Will County Clerk’s Office. Anyone in line at 8:30 am, as well as any petitions received in the first mail, will be in the ballot placement lottery*, if necessary.

On June 25, the doors to the County Office Building will be open until 5:00 pm for candidates filing petitions. Anyone who files a petition on June 25 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm will be in the ballot placement lottery*, if necessary.

*The ballot placement lottery is when two or more petitions are received simultaneously for the same office by more than one new political party, independent or nonpartisan candidates as of the opening hour or within the last hour of filing period.
