Rain, Storms Possible As Temps Return To 50s: IL Weather

Storms are expected on Saturday afternoon and evening, before the weather dries out on Sunday.

ILLINOIS — A few thunderstorms are expected this weekend as temperatures return to 50 degrees and warmer, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Rain could begin late Friday into early Saturday, and a chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm are in the forecast for Saturday, especially after 4 p.m. According to the weather service forecast, Saturday will have a high of 70 degrees, and will be windy with gusts up to 25 mph.

A few storms on Saturday may also have gusty winds and small hail, the weather service said.

Showers and storms are likely through Saturday night, before the weather dries out on Sunday. According to the weather service forecast, Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high of 53.

As the work week begins, temperatures are expected to warm into the 60s, for a high of 64 on Monday and 67 on Tuesday. Monday and Tuesday should be dry, before a chance of rain on Tuesday night.

On its Twitter, the weather service said the Chicago area is entering a typical spring pattern of up-and-down temperatures.
