Temps In The 50s As February Ends: IL Weather

Some light rain or snow is possible Friday night, before things dry out for the rest of the weekend, according to the weather service.

ILLINOIS — Temperatures in the 50s are expected this weekend as February comes to a close, according to the National Weather Service. The Chicago area will continue to thaw out, as Saturday and Sunday both have a high of 57 degrees.

Some light rain or snow mix is possible Friday night, mainly after 9 p.m. The weather service said there will be minimal impacts from the precipitation.

After Friday night, Saturday and Sunday are expected to be partly sunny and dry. According to the weather service, Sunday may be windy with gusts up to 35 mph. Temps in the 40s are expected for the start of the work week, and will once again be dry with no snow or rain.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Rain likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 34. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of rain after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

SUNDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 50. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 24.
