Write-In Candidates for the November 6, 2018 General Election
Qualified Will County residents who would like to run for an office but were unable to get their petition filed in time can run as a write-in candidate. To be a write-in candidate a Declaration of Intent to be a Write-In Candidate form must be completed no later than sixty-one days prior to an Election. The form can be found by going to thewillcountyclerk.com.
A Declaration of Intent to be a Write-In Candidate can be filed in person at, or mailed to, the Will County Clerk’s Office. The last day to file to be a write-in candidate for the November 6, 2018 General Election is September 6, 2018.

In order to cast a write-in vote, voters must complete their ballot by darkening the oval to the left of the write-in line and write the candidate’s name on the line provided under the appropriate office on the ballot. (The voter must make his/her intent clear, ex: Frank Smith, not Smith.)
