1 Rescued After Boat Capsizes On Fox River

A man was found holding onto his boat when firefighters arrived Friday afternoon. He was not injured.

ALGONQUIN, IL — Firefighters rescued a person from the Fox River in Algonquin after their boat capsized Friday afternoon.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded after receiving a call from a resident who said a man was in the river and yelling for help. When they arrived at about 1 p.m., they found him holding onto his overturned boat near the east bank of the river — in the area of the intersection of North Harrison Street and Algonquin Road, according to a news release from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

Firefighters quickly got him out of the water, and he was taken to an ambulance to warm up, fire officials said.

He was not injured and did not need to go to the hospital for further treatment, according to the news release.
