15-Year-Old Driver Crashes Into Tree, Passenger Seriously Hurt
A 16-year-old passenger was airlifted from Northwestern hospital in Huntley to Lutheran Hospital in critical condition.
RUTLAND TOWNSHIP, IL — A 16-year-old passenger was airlifted in critical condition after a single-vehicle crash Friday night in Rutland Township. Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain said deputies responded to the crash around 9:15 p.m. Friday after a Nissan Sentra driven by a 15-year-old Lake In The Hills girl went around a curve on eastbound Powers Road from Route 47 and left the roadway.
The Nissan went onto the south shoulder of the road and struck a tree, police said.
Police said the 15-year-old driver was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital with minor injuries.

A 16-year-old passenger form Huntley was initially taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital before being airlifted to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she was listed in critical condition.
A second passenger, a 15-year-old from Huntley, was transported from the scene by a family member to Northwestern Medicine.

The crash is under investigation by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
