25 Drivers Pulled Over During LITH Traffic Campaigns
The Lake in the Hills Police Department took part in a traffic safety campaign and Saturation Saturday initiative in recent weeks.
LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The results are in from a recent traffic safety campaign that took over the Labor Day holiday in Lake in the Hills. The campaign ran from Aug. 16 through Sept. 3 and coincided with a Saturation Saturday with officers focused on pulling over impaired, unbuckled and distracted drivers, according to a news release from the Lake in the Hills Police Department.
This campaign was aimed at lowering drunk-driving crashes and fatalities during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year, authorities said. Officers worked an extra 29.5 hours of enforcement during the recent traffic safety campaigns and issued the following citations:
- four distracted driving citations
- one citation for illegal transportation of alcohol
- one seat belt violation citation
- two citations for uninsured motorists
- two moving violations
- two non-moving citations
- 13 speeding citations
The cost to cover the additional patrol hours are funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The Illinois “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” program is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal dollars managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
