Algonquin Founders Days Has Been Cancelled

The 60th annual festival has been cancelled due to concerns over the coronavirus.

ALGONQUIN, IL — This year's Founders Days in Algonquin has been cancelled, event organizers announced this past week. The Founders Days Committee has been discussing whether to move forward with this year's festival for months.

"After much reflection of the current COVID-19 situation and recent capacity restrictions mandated by the State of Illinois, the Committee has decided that the health and safety of festival participants, entertainers, volunteers, and staff could not be guaranteed," according to a post on the Algonquin Founders' Days Facebook page.

All of the events associated with Founders Days have been cancelled as well, according to the Founders Days Facebook page. The Founders Day Committee is "will begin optimistic planning for 2021."
