David W. Szalonek was 16 when he shot his father, Brian, 51, in their home on Westbourne Parkway. He pleaded guilty but mentally ill to second-degree murder, the Herald reports.

According to reports, Szalonek was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome and depression. He had a history of psychiatric problems and had been depressed and suicidal prior to the shooting.
