Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office

Algonquin Village Trustee

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Over the years we have addressed the many issues on communication and transparency to our residents and businesses. I will work with staff and other board members that we continue with our programs agenda and if the opportunities come along where we can continue to improve we will do so without hesitation.

Do you support Black Lives Matter and what are your thoughts on the demonstrations held since the death of George Floyd and the shooting of Jacob Blake?

I do support equality for all regardless of color or race.

Do you think the current board has done enough to support racial equality, and if not, what specifically should be done to do so?

yes

What are your thoughts on the national and local coronavirus response? Do you favor measures such as limiting operation of non-essential businesses and restricting indoor/outdoor dining? And do you favor a local mask mandate?

Poorly handled by the federal and state governments. As both have been slow on delivering the vaccines to those in desperate need. Businesses and restaurants are both currently under the control of government officials health guidelines. I do believe people need to wear masks as required by these guidelines or if it makes one and their family members feel safer.

What are your thoughts on the state and local coronavirus vaccine distribution, and how do you think local governments should work together to handle vaccine rollout?

Poorly handled by the state and county government boards of health. Both units of governments have been slow on delivering the services to those in desperate need. And not even giving notices, as to when one is to expect his/her vaccination shot(s).

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My experience being on the Village Board the last 4 terms has allowed me to work along with previous and current board members and open to their thoughts or ideas. Also my work related experience knowing the OEM's products and maintenance required for their equipment uses in our WWTP/Roads/Construction Equipment, as well as their after market services available to better serve our village needs.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform

Always make myself accessible to our residents, businesses, and local organizations with their questions or concerns.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

AAA rating from Standard and Poor's, Certificate of Achievement from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) for performance management being our 8th consecutive year, Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for distinguished Budget Presentation Award which is our 16 consecutive year. With the Western Bypass being completed the Village Board was able to reinvest monies to and complete our Downtown Infrastructure Project, our WWTP improvements and new Lift Station, keeping property taxes flat, as some of the accomplishments that I am proud to share.

If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office as a success?

Continued fiscal responsibility and to serve the people of Algonquin

Why should voters trust you?

Anyone who has called or communicated to me directly with questions or concerns have always received answers based on the facts at hand and/or I contacted our staff to whom the matter was conferred with and reply given to help one understand the situation(s).

What are your views on fiscal policy, government spending and the use of taxpayer dollars in the office you are seeking?

In review I feel we as a village board with our staff have demonstrated fiscal restraint by working with the incoming revenue stream, having our fiscal year 2020/21 budget represents a balanced $72 million financial plan, and yet keeping our total tax levy below the 2008 levels, and be able to allow $33 million in capital infrastructure investment.

Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family?

no

The best advice ever shared with me was:

"Listen and Learn" as you may be surprised at what you hear that can help one immensely

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I enjoy life and try to live to its fullest, traveling, dining, dancing, nature walks, bike riding when we can, all with my partner and beautiful wife.
