Algonquin's Weekly Concerts Return This Summer

The Algonquin Village Board approved the weekly summer concert series at Towne Park at its Tuesday meeting.

ALGONQUIN, IL — The village's summer concert series is set to return this summer.

After being called off last year, the Algonquin Village Board on Tuesday approved a weekly concert lineup that will start on Thursday, July, and continue through Thursday, Aug. 5. As has been the case in the past, attendees can bring their own picnic dinner, and if you are over the age of 21 years old, you can bring in alcoholic beverages to "consume responsibly," Michael Kumbera, assistant village manager in Algonquin, told Patch in an email response.

"This is only permitted during the actual concert event and open alcoholic containers may not leave the premises," he said. "Alcohol will not be sold on-site."

Depending on federal and state guidance at the time of the concerts in July, the village has contingency plans in place that would require less or more restrictions for those attending the concerts, according to village documents. The village is also still discussing whether to allow food trucks or the sale of food on site, Kumbera said Monday.

Each of this year's Thursday concerts will run from 7 t0 8:30 p.m. at Towne Park. Here is a look at this year's lineup:

Despite the cancellation of all concerts last year, the village did not take a hit financially.

"All of our musical performers agreed to credit their fees to 2021, so we did not incur a loss due to the cancellation," Kumbera said.
