Bring the Family to the Fox Tales Storytelling Festival Sunday, August 30
Algonquin Area Public Library will host 2nd annual festival Sunday, August 30 from 10am to 4pm, featuring musicians, storytellers and more!
Nationally renowned storytellers, puppeteers, and musicians will entertain audiences of all ages at the Harnish Main Library Special Event Tent from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 30. Bring your blankets, chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy stories from Paddy Lynn, Sandi Sylver, Linda Gorham and Megan Wells. Musicians Susan Salidor, Bill Robinson, Hanes & O’Meara, and The Frothy Boys will present musical selections ranging from lively and humorous to soothing and uplifting. Local historical societies and living history reenactors will share insights into McHenry County history. The James Bus will be on site, courtesy of the McHenry County Historical Society.
Several performers have strong ties to the local community, including LaGrange Park resident and award-winning performing artist Megan Wells, who has appeared as a featured storyteller at the Illinois Storytelling Festival, Schaumburg Prairie Center, Sterling Festival, Chicago Wild Onion and WBEZ. Third-generation hammered dulcimer player Bill Robinson lives in St. Charles and has been performing for more than 60 years. He has played with such groups as Illinois Country Opry and Wagon Wheel Opry, and is the founding member of Bill Robinson & Friends, which is still going strong today.
This free program is being offered in cooperation with the Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department and the Algonquin Area Public Library and and the Algonquin Events and Recreation Department.
