Fast Facts: Krutwig has emerged as one of the top players in the Chicago area. The versatile 6-foot-9 forward has 12 Division I offers in hand. He is averaging 17 points and 13 rebounds per game and provides an intimidating presence in the paint. Balkcom is only a sophomore, but he has been running the point and starting, settling into his role as the season has moved along. Ross will be playing only his fourth game of the season Saturday after missing most of the season due to finger injuries. The Golden Eagles suffered an overtime loss to a team in Elgin’s conference, St. Charles North, on Tuesday. Jacobs plays Dundee-Crown in FVC Valley play Friday as it tries to maintain its perfect conference mark before turning around for this Saturday afternoon game. Elgin features a guard-oriented lineup that produces steals and big offensive number, but the Maroons may also have the antidote to Krutwig. Cooper is a 6-foot-8 junior who has scored 196 points, while grabbing 230 rebounds and blocking 92 shots. Douglas is the team’s leading scorer with 349 points and also leads the team with 112 assists and 79 steals. Cole is right behind him with 312 points and 63 steals. Baldwin has scored 304 points on the wing. Jacobs coach James Roberts is concerned that Elgin will try to speed his team up. He says the key is containing the Maroons’ guards.
