Coronavirus In McHenry County: Positivity Rate Hits 9.2%
Currently, the county's positivity rate is at 9.2 percent. A week earlier it was at 6.6 percent.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — McHenry County has seen a steep jump in people testing positive for COVID-19 in the past week.
The county's positivity rate has been on the rise since early April and is currently at 9.2% — jumping more than three percentage points in just one week, according to recent public health data that looks at the county's seven-day rolling average. The rise in cases comes at a time when more people are being vaccinated and after the county started to see near record-low positivity rates in March, dipping below 4% at one point.
It also comes at a time when more variants of the virus are cropping up across the suburbs and the state, and other Chicago-area counties are seeing positivity rates increase.
