Find Out How Algonquin, LITH Runners Fared at Chicago Marathon

Congrats to all who completed the 26.2-mile race Sunday!

Algonquin and Lake in the Hills runners fared well at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday.

Brian Necke was the first Algonquin resident to finish the 26.2-mile race in Chicago Sunday, according to unofficial results posted on the Chicago Marathon website. He crossed the finish line with a time of 3:23.17. Lacey Daebel was the first female Algonquin resident to complete the marathon. She finished with an unofficial time of 4:30.20.

David Manikowski was the first Lake in the Hills resident to complete the race, crossing the finish line with a time of 3:23.29. Angie Goulette was the first female Lake in the Hills resident to finish. She had a time of 4:02.21.

Meanwhile, Dickson Chumba, 28, of Kenya, was the overall winner of the race with an unofficial time of 2:09:25, according to Runner’s World. Florence Kiplagat, 28, also from Kenya, won the woman’s race with an unofficial time of 2:23.33, according to WGN TV. Each of the winners will receive $10,000.

The race got underway for the elite runners at 7:30 a.m.
