Firefighters Put Out Single-Story House Blaze
The homeowner was unhurt, and firefighters saved pet birds in the house.

A single-story house fire was extinguished early Saturday morning by the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and other area fire departments.
No one was injured in the blaze, and firefighters were able to rescue the homeowner’s birds from the home, according to a release from the Algonquin-Lake of the Hills Fire Protection District.
Crews responded to a call at about 1:24 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, of a fire from the homeowner in the 1300 block of Lexington Drive, the release stated. Firefighters saw smoke and flames showing from the basement of the single-story house when they arrived, but they were able to put it out quickly, the release added.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and officials did not have a damage estimate as of Sunday, the release stated.
Firefighters from Huntley, Carpentersville, Crystal Lake and Cary also helped fight the blaze, the release stated.
