Flight for Life Helicopter Assists Man Who Cut Off Finger in CL

Contractor working on home remodeling project cut off his finger while using a table saw.

Residents living on the north side of Crystal Lake reported seeing a helicopter hovering near Route 176 and Walkup Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The Northwest Herald is reporting the Flight for Life helicopter was called to assist a man who accidentally cut off his ring finger while working using a table saw. The man, 41, was working on a remodeling project at a house located near Hillside Road and Oak Street. 

The Flight for Life Helicopter used the Veterans Acres parking lot, at 431 Walkup Road, as a landing pad. The injured man was driven by ambulance from the nearby home to the awaiting helicopter. 

The accident occurred at about 2:45 p.m., and the contractor also injured three other fingers on his right hand. The medical helicopter transported the man to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville where he was listed in fair condition, the Herald reports.
