LITH Man Accused Of Battering Pregnant Woman

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — A 29-year-old Lake in the Hills man faces battery charges following an incident earlier this week on Village Creek Drive.

Eder Amaro-Reyes is charged with aggravated battery, which is a felony; and misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and endangering the life and health of a child, according to a Lake in the Hills police report. The incident happened on Monday.

Amaro-Reyes is accused of lying on top of the woman, who is 8 months pregnant, and putting his hands around her throat and mouth, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Court. The woman's young daughter witnessed the attack, authorities said.

The woman refused medical attention and was not transported to a hospital, Ashley Eccles, communications coordinator for the Lake in the Hills Police Department, told Patch in an e-mail response.

Amaro-Reyes was turned over to the McHenry County Jail and later released after posting 10 percent of his $40,000 bail.
