The village of Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department is looking to drum up support for a new Children's Garden, which would be located on the grounds of the Lake in the Hills/Algonquin Interfaith Food Pantry.
The project has been selected to appear on the National Recreation and Park Association's "Fund Your Park" campaign website. The crowd-funding site collects donations and LITH officials are hoping to raise $5,000 to "build a children's garden that will educate children on organic gardening, healthy eating choices and giving back to the community."

The new Children's Garden would be located next the existing Victory Garden at the food pantry, which is located at 1113 Pyott Road. The Victory Garden currently provides approximately 300 families with fresh produce. The Children's Garden would be a dedicated, fully accessible area featuring raised garden beds, a tunnel, teepee and brightly colored containers.
