New Algonquin Aldi To Open In January

The expanded store is expected to open in early 2021. The current Aldi along Randall will close.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A new and improved, and much larger, Aldi is expected to open along Randall Road during the first week of 2021, Russ Farnum, community development director for the village of Algonquin, told Patch. Construction is underway on the new store, which is located on the northwest corner of Randall Road and Becky Lynn Lane.

The current Aldi, located at 425 S. Randall Road, will close, Farnum said.

Aldi proposed bringing the new 20,000-square-foot store to town earlier this year. The proposal is part of a nationwide expansion plan by the popular grocer and part of a prototype concept Aldi has been rolling out across the U.S.

The new store will be 5,400-square-feet larger than the current store, according to village documents presented at a February planning and zoning commission meeting. It is also expected to include several new items not offered at the Aldi in Algonquin now.
