Gator Reported In Fox River Was A Prop: Police
Police were called to a home in Port Barrington after a homeowner reported seeing an alligator in the water. It turned out to be a prop.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — An alligator dwelling under the pier at a home along the Fox River is not something you hear of every day.
But that is the report McHenry County Sheriff's Office Deputy Laura Larson was called out to investigate after a homeowner reported an 8-foot alligator lurking in the waters in Port Barrington, according to the Northwest Herald. The gator ended up being a prop — Larson figured this out after knocking on its back, hearing a hollow sound and then pulling it from the water.
Animal control officers called to the scene were told they were no longer needed, McHenry County Sheriff's Office Deputy Kevin Byrnes told the newspaper.
