Update: 1 Injured; Dozens Displaced After Lake in the Hills Apartment Fire

One person was injured and residents of 18 units displaced in the early morning hours of April 15 after an apartment fire in the 1300 block of Cunat Court. The fire broke out just after midnight, at a time when many residents were home.
“One person was rescued from the third floor balcony via ladder and transported to Sherman Hospital in Elgin,” the Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection said in a written release. “Lake in the Hills Police Department arrived first on the scene and were able to alert ten residents to evacuate prior to Fire Department arrival.”

The injured man is in stable condition, the fire department reported.
The fire department estimates that between 20 and 30 residents were displaced by the fire.

The fire was declared out at 12:45 a.m, the department stated. Crews were still on the scene past 3 a.m. investigating the cause of the fire.
Neither a damage estimate nor a cause for the fire has been determined.
