One man remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
DEER PARK, IL — A woman died and two other people were injured Thursday morning in a Lake County crash involving a tractor-trailer, a minivan and an SUV.
The deadly chain of events began some time before 9:35 a.m. Thursday, when a 2002 Chevrolet Venture minivan driving southbound on Route 12, near Deer Park Boulevard, made a right turn from an inside lane, Lake County's sheriff said in a news release.
When the van turned, it crossed the path of a 2000 Peterbilt Truck, which was carrying a partial load of gravel.

Authorities said the truck, driven by a 65-year-old Melrose man, struck the side of the Chevrolet, shoving the van into a utility pole.
The Peterbilt then sideswiped a 2018 Infiniti SUV, driven by a 64-year-old McHenry man. The driver of the SUV driver was not injured.
