2000 Death Of S. Barrington Woman Was Homicide: Medical Examiner
Prosecutors accuse Frank Buschauer of drowning his wife Cynthia Hrisco in a tub at her South Barrington home in 2000, a report said.
COOK COUNTY, IL — A former Cook County medical examiner claimed during his Tuesday testimony he found no evidence that a South Barrington woman's 2000 drowning death was due to an undiagnosed illness, according to the Daily Herald. Stephen Cina testified for the prosecution in 70-year-old Frank Buschauer's bench trial. Prosecutors accuse Buschauer of drowning his wife Cynthia Hrisco in a tub at her South Barrington home after their marriage started breaking down, the news report said.
According to the Daily Herald, defense attorney Allan Ackerman said during his opening statement Tuesday that "speculation or conjecture" don't add up to 70-year-old Buschauer's guilt. Buschauer has pleaded not guilty in 47-year-old Hrisco's death, who according to Cina, didn't have a history of any ailments except rheumatoid arthritis. Cina added that everything looked normal according to her February 2000 autopsy, performed by Cook County Medical Examiner Dr. Scott Denton, except for the woman's lungs, which showed she drowned, the news report said.
Testimony will start up again Thursday.
