Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital emergency department renovated

Project to enhance patient care experience

Patients seeking care at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital’s Emergency Department will benefit from recently completed improvements, some very obvious and others more subtle. The goal of the renovations is to enhance the patient care experience.

“Improving patient care was our top priority with this project,” said Emergency Department Clinical Manager Dawn Moeller. “We wanted the renovations to enhance efficiency, privacy and comfort so that our patients can continue to receive the exceptional services they have come to expect at Good Shepherd.”

The first feature patients will notice upon entering the emergency department is a redesigned registration desk that improves their privacy and staff access to them. Beyond the reception area, private triage rooms have been revamped and flow has been reconfigured to improve access to imaging services.

Additionally, the ED now has dedicated spaces for medication, nutrition and registration supplies. A bariatric-approved bathroom also was part of the project, as were safety and security measures.

The hospital raised funds for the work through last year’s Signature Event featuring singer and songwriter James Taylor.
