Barrington High Student Killed In Route 59 Crash

The teen was a passenger in a vehicle that crossed the centerline on Route 59 in South Barrington and collided head on with another vehicle.

SOUTH BARRINGTON, IL – A Barrington High School student was killed when the car she was riding in crossed the centerline on Route 59 Sunday afternoon and collided head on with another vehicle. The 14-year-old Barrington girl has been identified as Cassandra Meadors and her cause of death is pending, the Daily Herald reports.

The crash occurred when a 2009 Volvo S60 heading north on Route 59 near Penny Road lost control and crossed into the southbound lane of traffic at about 3:10 p.m. Sunday, colliding with a southbound 2006 BMW X5 driven by Carol Saldek, 56, of Crystal Lake, police told the Daily Herald. Dana Cibulka, 27, of Chicago, drove the Volvo.

Cassandra and two others were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates where Cassandra was pronounced dead a short time later. Condition updates on the other crash victims was not immediately available.
