Barrington Police: Smash and Grab, Deceptive Practices, "Harmful Deposit" Charge

Police release reports from the week of Aug. 12

An intoxicated person in the 700 block of South Prairie Avenue on Aug. 18 who alarmed and disturbed a neighbor, police said.

A window was smashed on a vehicle and a purse taken while parked in the park district lot at 235 Lions Drive on Aug. 16, reports stated.

Deceptive practice was reported by a resident when purchases were made in California through their bank account on Aug. 16, according to police.

Two 14-year-old males from Barrington were charged with criminal trespass at 1415 S. Barrington Road on Aug. 15, police said. Both teens were both released to their parents.

Police are investigating a burglary to an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Concord Lane on Aug. 14 where items were taken, reports stated.

Jonpaul  L. Mease, 20, of 506W. Main St., Barrington, was arrested for attempted possession off fraudulent driver’s license at 511 Lake Zurich Road on Aug. 14, police said. Mease was released on bond and given a Lake County court date of Sept. 13.

A resident of the 26000 block of Taylor Road reported that while walking in the area of West Northwest Highway and Cumnor Avenue on Aug. 14, an unknown male in a small black vehicle pulled up and offered a ride, reports stated.

Charles J. Hockett, 44, of 902 E. Main St., Barrington,  was charged with harmful deposit on the right-of-way at the intersection of Main Street and Eastern Avenue on Aug. 5, police said. The deposit was a piece of plywood with nails facing up on the shoulder of the road, police said. Hockett was released and given a Cook County court date of Sept. 9.
