Barrington Village Board approves plan for youth center and art gallery
The area is currently an undeveloped lot.

The Barrington Village Board approved a development plan for a youth center and an art gallery last week, according to the Barrington Courier-Review. The plan also includes an expanded storage area for the furniture retailer at 200 Lageschulte Street, adjacent to the empty lot to be developed.
The private youth center would be run by the Chicago chapter of Youth for Christ. Accord to its CEO, Rick Selk, the organization hopes to provide weekly discussions on drug abuse, divorce, dating and self-esteem to teens between the ages of 11 and 19.
The owner of the property, Charles Kraft, plans to let Barrington High School use the area around the youth center as an off-site parking location. Work on the development is expected to begin in spring 2017.
