Bus Service Available to District 220 Summer School Students

Students interested in bus service will pay an additional fee.

This summer, the District 220 plans to provide transportation for summer school students on an additional pay-to-ride fee basis.

The state provides no funding to the district for this type of bus service and there is no legal requirement to offer summer school transportation. However, the Board of Education approved this service because it believes more students may take advantage of important summer learning programs if transportation is readily available. The fees, logistics and means of registering for summer school transportation will be available soon. Once interested riders are determined, summer school transportation can only be offered if a sufficient number of families register, to ensure the service is cost-effective and self-supporting. Families that qualify for free-and-reduced meals are not charged for transportation.
