District 220 Hires New Leaders for 2013-2014 School Year
Jim Aalfs is the new principal at Hough Street Elementary School and Cheryl Wadsworth has been named the director of Fiscal Services for the Barrington district.
New school leaders have been hired in District 220 just before the 2013-2014 school year’s start.Â
Jim Aalfs begins this year as the new principal of Hough Street Elementary School. Aalfs succeeds Lori Wilcox, who left Barrington 220 for an administrative position in the Lake Forest School District. Aalfs returns to Barrington, having previously served as an assistant principal at the Station Middle School campus from 2004 until 2007. He most recently was a principal and teacher in nearby District 300. He is a school leader experienced in classroom instruction, character education, and innovative uses of technology. Aalfs was selected this summer after interviews with students, staff and parents from Hough Street Elementary as well as a team of district administrators. Barrington 220 is grateful to so many individuals who took time from their summer vacations to participate in this selection process.
Cheryl Wadsworth is the new director of Fiscal Services, replacing Tom Beerheide who accepted a position in Sunset Ridge District 29. Wadsworth comes to the district with nearly 14 years of business office experience, having previously served in two area school systems. She has an extensive background in all aspects of business office operations, including budget projections, financial reporting, internal and governmental reporting, payroll, accounts payable, insurance, investments, purchasing and grant writing. Wadsworth will be instrumental in supporting the Board of Education's priority to maintain Barrington 220's tradition of fiscal responsibility and transparency.
