Hoffman Estates Police Veteran Killed In Motorcycle Crash

David Domin, 49, was a 23-year veteran of the Hoffman Estates Police Department, officials said.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — The Hoffman Estates Police Department announced Tuesday the death of one of their own, veteran police officer David Domin, 49, who passed away Monday due to injuries from a motorcycle accident. Domin was a 23-year veteran of the Hoffman Estates Police Department, according to officials.

The Daily Herald reported Domin was off duty Monday during a crash in South Barrington between his motorcycle and a work van on Route 59 near Arboretum Drive, according to a press release from the South Barrington Police Department. The crash happened around 12:25 p.m., and paramedics took Domin to St. Alexius Medical Center where he died, according to the release.

Police said Domin spent many years as a tactical officer and investigator, and served honorably in the United States Marine Corp. before joining the Hoffman Estates Police Department.

"The Hoffman Estates Police Department would like to thank everyone for the support they have shown during this tough time," the department said in a Facebook post. "Dave will be deeply missed and leaves behind many friends with fond memories."
