Local Physical Therapist to Present at Orlando Conference

Paul Sullivan has been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists' Annual Conference.

Physical Therapist Paul Sullivan has been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists’ Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 26. Sullivan practices at Barrington Rehabilitation and Sports Physical Therapy, located at 27401 W. Route 22.

Sullivan will deliver a presentation entitled “Evaluation and Treatment of CMC Osteoarthritis, a movement impairment-based approach.” The lecture will highlight the anatomy and biomechanics of the thumb and provide a solid framework of how therapists can assess and treat patients with pain and dysfunction in the base of the thumb. Manual stretching techniques and specific active strengthening exercises will be provided.

Sullivan earned his physical therapy degree from Northwestern University and received his master of health science degree from the University of Indianapolis. He established Barrington Rehabilitation and Sports Physical Therapy in 1997. Sullivan is a certified hand therapist and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy in 2018.
