LAKE BARRINGTON, IL — A 24-year-old Lake Barrington man was arrested this past week after authorities searched his home and turned up more than 100 items stolen during vehicle burglaries in Lake, McHenry and Cook counties, police said. The discovery came after authorities issued a warrant for Hunter Grabowksi, of the 500 block of Beacon Drive in Lake Barrington, for failure to appear in court on a theft charge, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities served the warrant to Grabowski at his home in the 500 block of Beacon Drive in Lake Barrington Wednesday. While at the home, deputies said they found items that were recently stolen in a nearby burglary. Grabowski, who police say also burglarized cars throughout the area, was taken to the sheriff's office, and detectives obtained a warrant to search his home, according to the news release.

During that search, detectives said they found more than 100 items that were stolen during vehicle burglaries in Lake, McHenry and Cook counties. The property of several victims who previously filed reports with authorities were recovered at Grabowski's residence, police said.

Grabowski has since been charged with two counts of burglary and additional charges are pending.

"Breaking into someone’s home or vehicle and stealing their hard-earned property is despicable and a complete violation of their privacy," Lake County Sheriff's John Idleburg said. "I am happy our detectives recovered a significant amount of property and they will eventually be able to reunite the valuables with their owners."
