Memorial Day Weekend Offers Plenty to do in Barrington

Village hosts several events this holiday weekend.

 

Barrington is kicking off the summer season with events every day this weekend.

The Barrington Art Festival, by Amdur Productions, is free and open to the public starting Saturday, May 25 to Sunday, May 26 in the downtown.X The festival offers 120 juried artists from around the world, according to the village’s website. Artists will create works in different mediums like ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, photography, watercolors, wood and more. There will also be music, food and activities for kids all weekend.

Dash to Cure Diabetes is Sunday, May 26 with a day of races. There’s a 4 mile trail run on the Prairie Path between Citizen’s Park and Cuba Marsh; a 5K Walk through Barrington’s streets and Junior Dashes for children, Dash to Cure Diabetes’ website. The races begin at 8 a.m.

Barrington residents and members of the Barrington VFW will join together for the Memorial Day Parade. The parade kicks off at Cook and Main Streets at 10:30 a.m. and ends at Evergreen Cemetery with a short service.
