Deborah Leydig can’t quite believe six years has passed since she opened Norton’s U.S.A. in downtown Barrington.
She’s not sure where the years have gone, but she’s grateful to the Barrington community and her customers for helping make Norton’s, a uniquely American general store, successful.
“It’s a great community,” Leydig said. “I’ve had amazing support from everyone.”
Norton’s, located at 400 Lageschulte St., is celebrating its anniversary this week with specials, including daily discounts, daily raffles, a bingo night and movie night.
Leydig is offering 20 percent off departments on select days:
- Wednesday, June 12, 20 percent off all stationery, books, spa, cleaners and polishes.
- Thursday, June 13 a discount on housewares, tools and home improvement items.
- Friday, June 14, home goods and food will be discounted.
- Saturday, June 15, clothing, accessories and patriotic items will be discounted.
Also Thursday, there will be a bingo night from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday is the Summer Wine Walk in Barrington and that evening, Norton’s will have movie night with a “Fly Away Home” being shown outside on the store, a restored barn, at 9 p.m.
The store’s website has more details on its anniversary events.
