Personal Information of 4 Million Advocate Medical Patients Could Get Exposed
At risk information could include social security numbers and patient names and addresses.

A burglary at an Advocate Medical Group administration building might have put the personal information of more than 4 million patients at risk, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.
Four computers were stolen from the building in Park Ridge and information on the password protected, but not encrypted, machines includes the addresses, names, social security numbers and dates of birth of some four million patients, according to the report.

A spokesman for Advocate told the Tribune that no medical records were included on the stolen computers. From now until Sept. 9 the medical group will be sending letters to affected individuals offering one year of credit report monitoring.

Advocate operates 12 hospitals including Good Shepherd Hospital, 450 West Highway 22, Barrington.
The network includes more than 1,000 doctors, according to their website.
